The sequel to Matt Hazard: Eat Lead is available today, missing the original game's celebrity cast (Will Arnett and Neil Patrick Harris), retail distribution, and third dimension. Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond opts for the 2.5D style of Shadow Complex. You get a fully 3D graphics engine and environment, but only 2D movement. If you played Shadow Complex, you know this isn't necessarily a bad thing. The sequel also features two-player co-op, which makes everything better.
The Matt Hazard "hook" is that it's a parody of other action games. You can see its targets of derision in the screens below, which feature obvious Team Fortress 2, Mirror's Edge, and Ninja Gaiden (?) riffs. Blood Bath and Beyond is available today for $15 from XBox Live and will show up tomorrow on the Playstation Store for the PS3.
