The main draw of this spring's Chaos Rising expansion for Dawn of War II is the addition of a new faction. The Chaos Space Marines will be dropping in, or bubbling up from underground, or appearing in a flash of purple light, or however it is Chaos Space Marines arrive on the scene. But to keep everyone else from sulking, the three existing factions each gets a new unit. Relic just unveiled the new guy for the vanilla Space Marines. He's a librarian. Yep, a librarian.

Of course, if you're a Warhammer fan or if you've played the previous Dawn of War, you know that these are no ordinary librarians.

The Librarian is a solid melee unit that can withstand a significant amount of damage while under the effects of his Quickening ability, allowing him to stay in a fight that might overwhelm or destroy other Space Marines. Once upgraded the Librarian offers a number of versatile abilities that will allow Space Marines players to respond to incoming threats faster, or move to safety when enemy forces threaten to overwhelm.
