Sony patent reveals details about Playstation 3 motion controller

Do you know the difference between a real journalist and a blogger? A real journalist digs up the patent application for Sony's motion controller, reads over it, and deduces a few things about how it will work. A blogger just links to the journalist's story.

Sony appears to have its sights set on introducing a variety of attachments to flesh out the controller's functionality. Attachments for what appears to be the PS3's new controller run the gamut from the technical to the mundane, with examples in the filing ranging from microphones to flashlights to maracas to crosshairs. The filing also details a way to connect two controllers together.
Check the link for further details about the colored light ball on top, USB functionality, and some sort of hoo-ha about "biometrics".

(Thanks, Gamespot, for reading patent applications so I don't have to!)
