Timegate Studios just released the first round of downloadable content for Section 8. The "Seek & Destroy" map pack includes three new maps.Players will be able to fight for control of a geothermal energy plant on the salt flats of New Madrid in "Devil's Backbone" and battle in the narrow confines of a hazardous valley on the planet Titan in "Hornet's Nest". "Azure Basin" is set high atop a mountain plateau where a massive hydroelectric dam sits astride the map, with combat ranging from both inside and outside of the facility.
It's currently available for the PC through Games for Windows Live for $7. There is no word when or if it will be available for the Xbox 360 version.
While I'm happy to see new stuff in the game, and while a single map goes a loooooong way in Section 8 due to the nature of the gameplay, it's going to be tricky to see an already small player community divided into haves and have-nots. But a bold game like this deserves support. Maybe a few thousand of you can tear yourselves away from the Modern Warfare 2 level grind for a while to to jump into a game that lets you play with all its toys from the get-go. Furthermore, one of the best things Section 8 has going for it is its superlative bots. Even if you never go online, you can still fully enjoy Devil's Backbone, Hornet's Nest, and Azure Basin.
