One of my criticisms of Solium Infernum, the excellent turn-based strategy game about conquering Hell, is that it's hard to figure out and the game itself doesn't do much to help you. There is no tutorial and no in-game documentation. Although the manual is comprehensive, it can be demanding. A lot of things you'll just have learn the hard way.
But that just changed a little. Solium Infernum now has its own Beatrice to guide you through the nether regions of Hell. She is named Dave Perkins and she...er, he has put together a fantastic tutorial that will walk you through the first several steps of playing a game. Perkins illustrated tutorial is not only helpful, but it's clearly inspired by the tone of the game. It is alternately disturbing, funny, and gross. This is just the sort of thing Solium Infernum needs to claw its way out of the niche. Hopefully, the tutorial will be included with future downloads of the manual, positioned prominently in the front where a tutorial of some sort should be.
