Here's a game that was going to happen sooner of later: Rock Band for the iPhone. IGN breaks the news that Electronic Arts is going to make fake rocking on the iPhone official. There have been Guitar Hero clones, rips-offs, and mods, and there have been Rock Bands for mobile phones. But now it's officially Apple.

Coming this month to the App Store for both the iPhone and iPod Touch, Rock Band is a full-featured, four-player edition of the franchise that not only borrows the console game's slick production values, but also a healthy number of its licensed tracks.

Downloadable songs will, of course, be available. In fact, given the pricing on iPhone apps, you'll probably pay more for downloaded songs than you pay for the actual game. The starting song list contains many of the usual suspects. You can see it here.
