Microsoft puts the kibosh on Molyneux\'s Fable III announcements

Peter Molyneux sort of announced that Fable III would support Project Natal, Microsoft's upcoming response to the Nintendo Wii motion sensor controller technology. This was hardly surprising, since Molyneux was a big part of the Microsoft's Natal announcement at E3. Although there was also some stuff about a virtual boy named Milo who has some sort of creepy bond with Molyneux's assistant (pictured), but I still haven't figured out what that has to do with Natal. Molyneux also said Fable III would include microtransactions. Although he was speaking to a small gathering of other Brits, word got out. You could imagine yourself waving your hands around to spend Microsoft points on new hats, more dog tricks, and enhanced farting animations.

But now it turns out that none of this is ready to be announced yet true. Microsoft has since clarified to Gamespot that Molyneux was merely speculatin' about a hypothesis, as it were.

Sure, but there's nothing more foolish than a man chasing his hat.

Hmm...I put 50/50 odds that Molyneux was just blathering about what he is trying to do. While it is possible that MS is not ready for the announcement, it seems just as likely that they are trying to shush Molyneux so he doesn't dig himself into yet another PR hole.

That poor bugger is always digging himself a new hole to die in isn't he? First he said the original Fable would be the best RPG! ...It was adequate at best (although I enjoyed it fully, no question there) it was obviously lacking.

Then there's Fable II, another Good game, an obvious improvement over the original and well done other then the shoddy at times dog, and co-op gameplay, and now comes Fable III which will use Natal which is another overhyped motion control peripheral.

I see this ending in pain for everyone. (That is not to say by the way that motion control is not intuitive and interesting, even useful at times, but to shove it down the consumers throats like this is just too much for my tastes.)

Agreed with everyone so far. I'm sure Peter wants to use Natal for Fable, but in the past he has shown all too often his willingness to sacrifice a games quality so he can incorporate some technology that fascinates him. People who waited for Black and White to come out know what I'm talking about. I wish the would just release The Movies on Steam and Impulse, as that was the last game by them I thought was really innovative.

Peter is a genius...who should learn to keep his trap shut.

The poor man has a serious case of eyes to big for his stomach and spends most of his career apologizing for the lackluster application of a grand concept. The Fable series are indeed, excellent games. But the idea that it's the best, most playable game series of all time is an opinion that exists entirely in Molyneux's head. Remember this is a guy who basically thinks it's cool for you to play a "quest giver". Still I think if maybe there's somebody in the room to keep Peter Molyneux in check, we might get a damn good game out of this.

Sure, we taught the kid to recognize faces...won't that just make easier to hunt you down and kill you?
