Dragon Age will come with extra stuff for extra money

Dragon Age will come with extra stuff for extra money

Apparently a vast living fantasy world is not enough. So when Dragon Age comes out, you'll be able to download a new dungeon, new environments, new items, new abilities, a new base, and a new party member.

It's a bit confusing, so let me break it down. One set of DLC, called "The Stone Prisoner", consists of new areas, new items, and a stone golem party member. This is free if you buy the game new and use the included download code. If, however, you buy a used copy of Dragon Age somewhere down the line, publisher Electronic Arts will be happy to sell it to you for $15.

Then there's the "Blood Dragon Armor" DLC, which you can only get with an included download code. You're out of luck if you get a used copy. No Blood Dragon Armor for you.

Then there's the "premium downloadable content" that isn't available for the Playstation 3. It's a $7 download called "Warden's Keep". It includes:

a new dungeon-exploring adventure, new loot including a set of ancient Grey Warden armor, a chance to gain two of six mysterious new abilities, a new base complete with merchants and a party chest to store their hard-earned items.
Leave it to Electronic Arts to make sure you can be separated from your money early and often.

Dont want it? Don't buy it.

Don't want it now, because it's too soon for EA to make money? Wait a month before you buy it.

Don't be so complainy.

I see no problem with this. It screws the pawn shop video game stores and I see no problem with that.

I think this is a great idea. Everyone has to buy a copy of MW2 new because no one is going to trade it in for a year. Then you've got games like this with truly great single player experiences, which is worth 100 times what the multiplayer modes in COD are, but they're getting traded in a week after they are released. Gaming is a business and I just hate it that FPS'ish designers make all the money while doing nothing that's really original because I fear the day when nothing but designing an FPS is a financially sound decision in the gaming world. Same thing with the Wii, it scares me that the commercial success may lead gaming in too narrow a direction. Anyway, I don't begrudge them for trying to make more money; it's good for the genre.

You all need to move to China. When you purchase a product in the U.S.A. you have the right to resell it. If you don't love your rights get out of the country so you don't ruin it for the rest of us. Whoops, too late.

From what I've read, the content is going to be available for the PS3 on the same day the PS3 version of the game comes out. So, those of us getting it on that console get to explore this new dungeon, too.

Warden's keep is included free with the Digital Deluxe edition (download only version from Impulse or Steam for example).

More DLC abuse.

DLC is supposed to allow companies to add to their game down the road, not take something out of the disc that is 100% ready before the game is released and force people to go through a little verification process to get their complete game. It's a bad trend. On top of that, people who don't connect their consoles online (rare as they probably are) are out of luck.

Doesn't really worry me. If it is a great game I love being able to buy new content. I wish I could be more new content for Fallout 3.

Wow, it looks like DA:O is going to already to open as its own Game of the Year Edition before it even comes out!

I'm glad to finally see a true RPG on the market and I'm really thinking about purchasing it. But after the endless expansion and stuff packs that came out after The Sims II and some of the weak material that came out after on Fallout3, the whole DLC thing just seems like so much nickel & diming. Btw, I think the Digital Edition is $66 to the original's $50.

Sorry about the above, I have no idea how that happened!

Here's my question: Can I buy DA:O for the PC, but use the Blood Dragon Armor for ME2 on the 360? (My preferred way of playing ME1).
