The Sixytone is an online collection of listener-created music with a sort of Digg rating system by which the most popular music floats to the top. According to the front page:Artists submit their work but rather than allowing a stuffy suit to decide what's cool, the listeners do.
A friend of mine spotted a familiar name under the musical submissions. You probably know Raph Koster as the designer of Star Wars: Galaxies, the ill-fated MMO. But folks at The Sixtyone know him for his selections under "folk and instrumental". You can listen to them here. Unfortunately, they're pretty good, so I can't ridicule them. I'm particularly fond of "November".
Koster writes more about his musical inclinations on his website here.I play guitar in a folk/singer-songwriter style. When I was a kid I grew up with this sort of stuff, and after wandering through jazz, art rock, and blues infatuations as a listener, I eventually returned to it (though I still enjoy the others, of course).
He's currently helping drag videogaming into the dreaded casualspace with a browser-based platform for games called Metaplace (demo'ed in the above video).
