Let's say you've been evil for all 80 levels of your life and you decide you want to be good. Or vice versa. Now it can happen. Assuming by "your life" you mean World of Warcraft, it is now possible to switch factions for a one-time fee of $30.

The new World of Warcraft Faction Change service is now live...We've been in the process of developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance for a fee. After purchasing a Faction Change for a character, a player can choose any race of the opposite faction that is compatible with the character's class.

Here are additional details.

I fully expect some World of Warcraft players will try to explain to me that the Horde isn't "evil" and the Alliance isn't "good". I'll tell them what I've always said when someone tries to explain that: "If it's got orcs, it's evil. Rent Lord of the Rings if you don't believe me." I then put my fingers in my ears and go "La la la la la la la" really loudly.

However, if you think this is outrageous, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Based on further community feedback, we have also decided to offer a race change service in the future. Players who choose to switch races will be able to change their race within their same faction and class. Additional details will be released at a future date.

Blizzard is tampering in gods' domain. I just hope they don't go so far as to allow players to change sex. That could lead to some, um, seriously awkward situations.
