The song list in a music game is always going to be a matter of taste. It hardly worth mentioning in a review, because it's such a highly subjective thing. Even more than most stuff in a review. Ask twelve people about a given song list and you'll get twelve different opinions. At least.
That said, I run a blog. So here's my obligatory gripe about the mostly decent song list in Guitar Hero 5. Elliott Smith and Bush finally -- finally! -- make their way into a music game and these are the songs we get? "L.A." and "Comedown"? I can only hope this is Activision whetting our appetites with some of the weaker B-list material, because you couldn't get more middling songs from two of my favorite musicians (see, there's that whole subjective thing).
I also have to admit that I expected "Smells Like Teen Spirit" wasn't really going to be a big deal since there's already plenty of NIrvana available for videogame rocking out. I was wrong. There's something so right about playing along with the guitar in that song. It might be one of the most satisfying fake guitar experiences since, gosh, "Free Bird"?
Finally, The Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil" is a great music game song. For whenever someone gets around to making Piano Hero.
