Before turning us loose to actually play Modern Warfare 2 last night, we were subjected to an announcement for the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Console. It comes with a 250GB hard drive, two controllers, and a copy of the game, all for $400.
As you can see above, the actual 360 comes pre-stressed, as if it's already been in a war. It looks like it just came off the Humvee after a long drive down dirt roads without the benefit of any sort of protective padding. It has the words "high-speed, low-drag" printed under the disc tray, along with some inexplicable numbers on the side. This will look perfect on book shelves made out of ammo boxes.

Pre-distressed? I guess MS finally found a way to unload their stockpile of RROD systems!

The COD6 theme will probably outlive the system it's self! Brad G., that's too funny!

So how much is a stand-alone 250gb HDD upgrade going to cost me? Will it be cheaper to just buy a new system?

disc trey?

From what I have read/heard, MS will not release the 250gb HD by itself, it is to only come with the MW 2/CoD 6 system.

Mihos, the current line is that the 250GB drive won't be available as a separate purchase. I'm sure they'll sell it eventually, but I have no idea at what price.

From Microsoft, that's probably code for "once the bundles stop selling"

This is all well and good - but why would any Xbox gamer need a 250GB drive?? It's not how big it is, it's what you do with it that counts! http://megabits-of-gaming.blogspot.com/2009/09/huge-250gb-hard-disk-inbound-for-360.html
