Florida cops just love the bowling in Wii Sports

In Florida, a bunch of cops serving up a warrant to arrest a suspected drug dealer and search his home kept themselves entertained by playing Wii Sports. Specifically bowling. Seems these cops loved bowling. Tennis? Nah. Baseball? No thanks. They just want to bowl.

The MSNBC segment above includes hilarious surveillance camera footage of the bowling Florida cops, as well as some rather portentous observations from a defense attorney. Also included is the obligatory mea culpa from the sheriff in charge, who clearly explains that he's unhappy with the officers who virtually bowled on duty. However, he offers the following counterpoint:

But you know what? We employ 1800 people. Not one of them are perfect. We all make mistakes.
Is perfect. Not one of them is perfect.

(Huge thanks to Matt!)

Ahahaha, you would, Tom, you would. Of course, I'd do the same thing myself...

I hope the Sheriff isn't really that big of an uptight douche and was just making that much fuss to satisfy the excessive outrage of any actual uptight douches who need that kind of display from him. As long as they filled the requirements of their duty, sneaking in a little recreation to stave off the depression and mania of what could otherwise be a monotonous work day doesn't seem like a bad idea. If they're really so worried about potential tax dollars wasted, I'll gladly donate the difference -- I'd rather they spent my money on detectives to play Wii Bowling than for cops to pull me over for not wearing a seat belt anyway .

I think the drug dealer deserved to have to watch the cops play on his wii!

Personally I think this is hilarious. A little embarrassing but hilarious.

I come from a small town where ther have been two unsolved murders here in the last year, and a huge rash of theft (previous murders in the last 30 years= ZERO) and i would be outraged if this happened here when there are actual crimes to be solved.
i think every one needs to find time to unwind and recreate, but being police offiicer puts you in a position of authority, and being on duty means you have to work, my boss would fire my ass on the spot if i was playing a game when i was supposed to be working.
many cops make mistakes, but these are the people wh are supposed to safeguard us and our children, i do not think it is a bad thind to hold people in these positions to a higher standard.

This is just unacceptable. If they are supposed to search a house, they shoudl search the house. Obviously the accused will go free in response to the botched search. Gotta love when police get their comeuppence. In NYC they run read lights all the time and on one fateful day for a NYU student going to orientation, she was hit crossing the street; at a crosswalk mind you.

Nice thing about stories like this is seeing all the cop haters come out of the woodwork. Some people can't accept that other people make mistakes. Sure these guys are held to a higher standard than the rest of us but they're human beings too. You guys need to get off your high horses and see the humor in the situation.
