If you're going to name your $10 download, might as well go with something catchy like "reborn". That's the name of the new single player missions for FEAR 2. Note the subtle suggestion that it's actually better than the core game. A sort of reboot, if you will.
In Reborn, you will see how the other half lives.F.E.A.R. 2: Reborn immerses gamers in the chaos of Alma's aftermath in an entirely new role: that of Replica Soldier Foxtrot 813. Gamers begin the mission as part of an orbital Powered Armor drop to reinforce their squad, and the ruined city of Auburn emanates supernatural events and familiar voices, beckoning Foxtrot 813 to go against orders from Replica command. Be careful, not everything is as it seems...
There's a lot of potential in letting you play from the bad guys' perspective, considering they're psychic clones of the original character's brother. Or something. The story throughout the FEAR games has always been -- to put it kindly -- a narrative kaleidoscope. But assuming this isn't just a reskinned model for the main character, Reborn is finally on the path to letting us play as Alma. I'm imagining a sort of J-horror take on the basic gameplay of Force Unleashed.
There's also a free multiplayer update for FEAR 2 adding slo-mo deathmatch. The basic idea is keep away, but with the guy who's "it" forcing everyone else into slow motion.
