An unfortunately common complaint about Section 8 will be that the guns "aren't powerful enough". Which is true if you're expecting one-shot/one-kill. But Section 8 plays more slowly, more tactically. It gives you time to react when you're being attacked. It encourages you to think about setting up effective situations rather than just opening fire and relying on reflexes.
But this might be new to a lot of players who expect to point and kill. So for them, I've assembled a troubleshooting guide, complete with solutions.
After the jump is your troubleshooting guide on why that guy you're shooting at isn't dying.
Problem : My gun doesn't do enough damage.
Solution: Keep firing. Alternatively, load up on Anvil Ammo modules. Four of them will boost your damage by 20%. With a full load of Gyro Stabilizers as well, your damage boost is 28% and your lock-on duration is doubled.
Problem: I'm still not doing enough damage.
Solution: Get closer. At about 20 meters for the assault rifle and 50 meters for the machine gun, your shots will completely bypass shields.
Problem: But I can't hit that guy because he's jumping around so much and using his jet pack.
Solution: Upgrade your lock-on with the Lock-on Booster and Gyro Stabilizer modules so you can keep him in your sights automatically.
Problem: Look, I really suck.
Solution: No problem. The Lock-on Boosters and Gyro Stabilizers are for you. Get in the habit of zooming in with your iron sights, tapping E to engage lock-on, and letting Section 8's unique gameplay help you get kills. It really works!
Problem: But I keep getting killed before I can kill that other dude.
Solution: One thing to keep in mind is that maybe the guy killing you has read this troubleshooting guide. If he's using lock-on, you can counter it with Stealth Matrix modules. A full load of these not only gives you a 40% lock-on resistance, but it also doubles the time it takes for you to be scanned. And the enemy can't lock onto you until he's scanned you. At which point he still has to deal with your 40% lock-on resistance.
Problem: I still really suck. Maybe this game isn't for me.
Solution: Don't give up. There's still plenty you can do. Stick with friendlies so you can get assists. Or load up on Stealth Matrix modules and take a roundabout route to an enemy base. Drop a sensor module within 100 meter of the base's capture point and you'll rack up recon points for your team. You'll make it easier for them to attack the base because they'll know the precise locations of the defenders. Or load up on Repair Fields and run around a friendly base repairing turrets, deployables, vehicles, and injured teammates. Or take a rocket launcher and use it to knock down AA guns and sensors at enemy control points. And don't forget to snipe the repair drones to slow automatic repairs.
Problem: I'm never going to be able to afford a tank at this rate.
Solution: No problem. You can ride in mine. I need more gunners.
