Valve has already revealed two of the five campaigns in Left 4 Dead 2. We know one campaign is set in the French Quarter, and another out in the bayou. Those are pretty much expected in a New Orleans setting.
But who expected Dark Carnival, the third announced campaign? Not me. Painkiller's Battle out of Hell expansion was the best horror carnival since the original Blood. House of the Dead: Overkill had an all too brief and detour through a carnival. So I'm glad to see Valve revisiting the setting. I expect great things in the funhouse. And if there's one horror sub-genre that needs further exploration, it's clown zombies.
Two maps from the Dark Carnival campaign will be playable at the Penny Arcade Expo in Washington next month.
