Something out-of-the-world comes to Fallout 3 this week. The Mothership Zeta downloadable content (pictured, in a cautionary tale that even interstellar travelers should wear seatbelts) adds a close encounter of the third kind to Bethesda's post-apocalyptic world. Make it last, because this is probably the last bit of new Fallout content you're getting until the series heads out to Las Vegas in next year's Fallout: New Vegas.

Hearts of Iron III is a vast strategic simulation of World War II. Do not approach this game lightly. It is not for the faint of heart. I played the previous Hearts of Iron, but I still almost had an embolism trying to figure out the new research screen. It somewhat resembles that chart the Republicans rolled out of the Democratic health care plan. But this is Paradox doing what they do best: giving hardcore strategy gamers a lot of historical meat, gristle, and bone to chew on.

Finally, how about a good old-fashioned godawful movie tie-in? Because that's what you're getting if you shell out for Electronic Arts' GI Joe: THe Rise of Cobra game.
