Walking into brick & mortar retailers this week should be perfectly safe for the well being of your wallet. Do you care about donning a pair of blue-and-red 3D glasses to play the tie-in for secret agent hamster movie, G-Force? The Rock Band Country Track Pack will be a wallet threat level to some very specific demographics. Similarly, you have to be a really devoted Watchmen fan to set yourself up for another round of dull brawling with the second part of what was supposed to be an episodic Watchmen game. The subtitle is officially The End Is Nigh, but The Night Owl and Rorschach Punch-a-Bunch Extravaganza is more descriptive. Little King's Story for the Wii is out this week, but as you'll see tomorrow, I don't really recommend this cutesy kingdom simulator.
However, caution is advised regarding a couple of possible online threats to your wallet. The Fury add-on for Wipeout HD promises new vehicles (pictured), tracks, and game modes. It'll be available on the Playstation Store this Thursday. My Life as a Darklord is available today from the Wii Ware channel. This is the follow-up to My Life as a King, in which you stayed home to build up a city and kit out adventurers. Then you watched them recede into the nearby draw distance as they sallied forth to adventure. It was basically a linear city builder where the NPCs had all the fun. But My Life as a Darklord seems to play more like a tower defense game. Literally. As a darklord, you build up a tower and then defend it from pesky heroes. I consider this the latest greatest hope for cutesy kingdom simulators and a threat to 1000 of my Wii points (i.e. ten bucks).
