"I love the Power Glove," Matt Mechtley says dreamily at the end of the video up there. "It's so bad."
It's no surprise the Nintendo Power Glove made the list of worst console peripherals on our sister site, DVICE. It ranked pretty high, too. The twenty-year-old doo-dad only worked with two games and it looked like something from a bad 80s sci-fi movie.
But in this day and age of fancy new peripherals, the Power Glove is getting some retro love. Sure, anyone can just stick a Wiimote on a Power Glove. But Mechtley ripped the guts out and rebuilt it. In the above demo of Off-Road Velociraptor Safari, he wrangles raptors by flexing his hand to accelerate and tilting his arm to steer. Watching him do that makes me wonder how anyone could ever hate the Power Glove.

If only it had worked like that at the time it came out. We'd all love the power glove....More »
