Sims 3: What's the worst thing that could happen?

Sims 3: What\'s the worst thing that could happen?

While talking to one of the producers of The Sims 3 for an interview (tune in on Monday!), I wondered what were the worst and best things that could happen to your sim. In other words, what moodlets give your sim the greatest benefit and the greatest penalty? She actually looked it up for me. Any guesses?

Answers after the jump.

The very worst thing that can happen to your sim is to be on fire. The moodlet "On Fire" applies a 200-point penalty to your mood. "Contrary to popular belief, being on fire is not healthy and can lead to symptoms including panic, burns, and death. Best find some water quickly!" the tooltip reads.

In second place -- and not even a close second -- is starvation, with an 80-point penalty. I think we can all identify with the third worst moodlet: "Heart Breaking" is a 60-point penalty for being in the presence of a romantic break-up.

The very best thing that can happen to your sim is probably evident to anyone who's had children. It comes in four flavors, each equally delightful: "It's a Boy!", "It's a Girl!", "It's Twins!", and "It's Triplets!" are all moodlets with a bonus of 60 points that last for 24 hours.

So by my math, if you impregnate four women and have them all give birth within a 24-hour period, you can walk around while you're on fire and not care.

Great closing line.

Maybe it is more that
a) you would not have time to realize you were on fire or
b) being on fire is actually better than what happens to you when the 4 women find out about each other

By phuzz at 11:10 AM ON 06/19/09

I'd have thought that, er, 'making' the four babies would give you the biggest mood jump...

By someone at 12:07 PM ON 06/19/09

I thought fulfilling the lifetime wish gives the largest positive moodlet.

By DeScr at 2:12 PM ON 06/19/09

I'm pretty sure the Lifetime Wish being achieved is +75 for 7 days.
Not only that but eating ambrosia is +75 for 7 days as well.
There's one at the spa that's +100 but I'm not sure what it was or how long it lasts.

By bacongrease at 4:26 PM ON 06/19/09

I think you should get the bad part over with first. Lite yourself on fire then go get at least 4 girls pregnant

By Blair at 4:59 PM ON 06/19/09

lmao! best one yet!

By fletchtar at 5:37 PM ON 06/19/09

bacongrease: I think that would cause a burning sensation, in which case the woman would have to go see a doctor & then you'd probably have backlash yielding a larger net negative moodlet penalty.

Logic!

By lol, wuts a handle? at 6:38 PM ON 06/19/09

you might catch fire impregnating four women in the same 30minutes

By Tom Chick at 6:55 PM ON 06/19/09

Hey, you know, I think you're right, Mr. Scr. I recall the moodlet for meeting a lifetime wish was pretty extreme! But I've never made Ambrosia and I haven't gone to the spa (dude, totally gay!). It could be that my question was misunderstood as pertaining to events in a person's life. I'm not sure...

But I'm pretty sure you can't get any worse than being On Fire, so I'm confident EA didn't steer me wrong on that one.

By podakayne at 10:34 PM ON 06/19/09

not so...i found that when i went to the spa and got a manicure, pedicure and massage combo...it lasted two dayz!!!! now that's better than having those babies

By wisefool at 10:34 AM ON 06/20/09

The spa $1000 package is pretty good because it lasts 7 days.

By DeScr at 2:37 AM ON 06/21/09

"and I haven't gone to the spa (dude, totally gay!)."

Can't a man treat himself once-in-awhile? T_T
Anyhow, I'm surprised having a kid isn't a higher mood boost actually.
One that might last weeks and slowly declines as the baby destroys what's
left of it's parents love and social life.

By Brof at 6:49 AM ON 06/22/09

actually, triplets are the worst thing that can happen...

By roboczar at 9:51 AM ON 06/22/09

I agree. There is nothing good about triplets, or even twins. I had to give mine away or suffer the consequences of baby overload.

By RotJ at 5:27 PM ON 06/22/09

According to sims.wikia.com, having kids gives you 80 points, not 60 points.

Also, if you have a child with a fireman or firewoman, the child will be immune to fire and will be able to set things on fire for a positive moodlet.

By DTH at 12:47 PM ON 06/23/09

"But I've never made Ambrosia..."

The first time I read this, I thought it said "I've never met Ambrosia," which really gave the whole idea behind the moodlet a very different meaning in my mind.
