Eric Lempel, the director of the Playstation Network operations, tells Joystiq that the PSP won't tie into the Playstation 3's trophy system because it's not secure. I hope all you people with your hacked PSPs and homebrew software and ripped UMDs are happy now. See what you've done!

Can we at least get Participation ribbons?

Who cares, trophies don't mean anything in the real world anyway. Now achievements, on the other hand...

Why yes I am quite happy with my hacked PSP, it's the only reason I bought one, lol. Seriously I wouldn't trade it for anything, not even trophies. Though Participation ribbons do sound awesome.

Carrie I hope you're not one of those dirty, dirty pirates I keep hearing about.

The PC isn't secure, either, and yet the PC version of Live ties into the 360 achievement pool. (Which has always been more exciting than PS3 trophies anyhow.)
What a lame excuse. I mean, it's not like I actually -care-, since I don't care about trophies to begin with, but I hate lame excuses.

Lol, I'm not too dirty a pirate. And when it comes to the PSP, although I have all of my games ripped to a memory stick, they are all of my games that I purchased myself. So yeah, just a little hacking here, there, nothing too harmful...
By Neuromancer at 9:47 PM ON 06/10/09
Oh well in that case... AAAR!

Seems like it would be MORE of a deterant since it would be enabled on the latest firmware and everything is trackable. Microsoft banned a bunch of people for achievment hacking in Gears of War 2 back in April. Also, more checks could be done to detect hacked systems during the trophy synching online.
I think they might be a little short sighted on this one.
