Download product placement for Saints Row 2 without having to pay a cent
As if there was any shortage of customization options in Saints Row 2 (Joker anyone?), Volition has just released a new set of tattoos and clothes. The Unkut Pack, available for the 360 and Playstation 3 but not the PC, consists of 62 new tattoos and items of clothing. The price? Free. Why free? Because every single item of clothing and tatoo in the Unkut Pack is product placement.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with that either, especially since a lot of things this generation, especially related to Sony and Microsoft's online networks, where they have the audacity to charge you for what is pretty much product placement.

Just to be clear, I don't necessarily have a problem with it either. I just thought it was an interesting approach. Volition is basically saying, "Hey, here's a commercial you can download into the game", although they're not exactly being explicit about it. I didn't realize it was a real product until I googled "unkut". At first, I thought it was some fake edgy made-up brand, like so much of the other stuff in Saints Row 2.

This is really how the Sims 3 should handle its item based DLC. I'm not going to pay a dollar for a virtual couch, but if it's a discreetly branded couch, free, and I like it, sure I'll use it in my game.
