When Volition and THQ released Saints Row 2, at the last minute, they delayed the PC version by a couple of months. The result was less than satisfactory for some folks. Complaints about bugs and technical issues were common.
So it might give you pause that something similar seems to be happing with Red Faction: Guerilla, the upcoming "everything is destructible!!" shooter from Volition and THQ. The publisher just confirmed that the PC version won't be released until "later in the summer". Does this mean PC owners can expect something cobbled together after the fact with some of the same problems as the PC version of Saints Row 2?
The key difference this time is that Volition isn't making the PC version of Red Faction: Guerilla. That task falls to an entirely separate company named Reactor Zero. And before you assume the fledgling studio is just some start-up looking to do a quick n' dirty port, consider that Reactor Zero was founded a few years ago by Matt Toschlog, who was one of the two key designers of the Descent games (the other designer, Mike Kulas, went on to found Volition). PC gamers might have to wait longer for Red Faction: Guerilla, but I'd say they're in good hands this time.
