Sometimes I hate the success of the Wii and Guitar Hero so much.Tony Hawk: RIDE features a wireless skateboard controller designed in conjunction with the game to offer a dynamic gaming experience built from the ground up. Using a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors, the intuitive controller allows players to physically control the action by performing various movements and gestures on the board that directly translate into amazing tricks in the game. Without complex button combinations or analog sticks, gamers of all skill levels can literally step on the board and play!
You can see a content-free trailer on the official Thride site, but there's lots of footage as well as hear some fairly typical bullet points ("We had to wait until the technology was ready") in this episode of Gametrailers TV, in which Mr. Hawk is challenged with the following question: "Skate's been bringing the heat, right?". While Electronic Arts' Skate series goes for a more organic control system, Activision's Tony Hawk series goes for an expensive gimmick. What else did you expect from the company bringing you a DJ Hero turntable?
