Pencils down! The contest to name PixelJunk's next game, a little action thing with liquid and puzzles and little dudes needing rescue, is done!

Over 10,000 people weighed in with suggestions like Depths, Atlantis, Caves, Blaster, and S.O.S!, none of which made the cut. The winning name, submitted by eight people presumably working separately, was Shooter. That's right. Shooter. Do not confuse it with the Mark Wahlberg conspiracy drama in which they kill his dog (spoiler?) or the genre, to which Shooter doesn't even belong. Eight people sent that in. And the folks at PixelJunk decided it was better than whatever at least 9,992 other people suggested.

Of course, I'm no real authority on naming. I cast aspersion on the Wii before it was released, here I am writing for a network about to be called Syfy, and my last name is Chick. So, yeah, Shooter. The guys at PixelJunk explain themselves here.
