You play the Wii enough and you start to realize how much of the movement it either fakes or fails to interpret. The Wii is a solid concept, but it's still very 1.0. That will change on June 8th, when Nintendo releases the Wii Motion Plus, a little attachment that snaps on the end of your Wii-mote and thereby invalidates whatever Wii-mote sheath you may have purchased. The $20 Motion Plus attachment uses accelerometers, gyroscopes, faeries, and probably lasers to more accurately read complex motions of your hand and then incorporate them into gameplay.
Right now, there aren't many games that plan to support the new Motion Plus tech. Red Steel 2, for instance, which isn't due any time soon. In June, EA's Tiger Woods PGA golf game and Grand Slam Tennis games. In July, Nintendo will ship Wii Sports Resort. But when the Motion Plus doo-dad comes out, the only game that it'll work with will be Sega's upcoming Virta Tennis 2009.
Sadly, you're no closer to ever getting a lightsaber dueling game. Give up the crazy dream. It will never work.
