Character actress Lorna Scott reeks havoc in Wanted

Wanted_Janice.jpgYou may think you don't know who Lorna Scott is. You'd be wrong. You just didn't know her name. Take a look at this list of credits. I'll bet you dollars to donuts you've seen Miss Scott before.

Codemaster's PR folks alerted those of us who aren't actually played Wanted that Miss Scott's character from the movie, Janice, is playable in the videogame. But only if you bought it at Wal-Mart. They sent along the above screenshot of "the Janice character reeking havoc". Unfortunate homonym, that. If there's one thing worse than wrecking havoc, it's reeking it.

As someone who loved the cognitive disconnect between my avatar and the onscreen action in Saints Row 2, I fully approve of unlockable characters like Janice, even if she's limited to Wal-Mart shoppers (or is she?). Go, Lorna, go!

Ha! This is great stuff. Can you imagine how cool it would be to have an entire shooter whose *only* single-player character was a woman like that?

Riffing: Maybe she starts out as a housewife with the kids gone, or as a clerk or a middle-manager in some office someplace, and then... Ninjas attack! Time to see if those lessons at the local shooting range have paid off....

So yeah, maybe it misses the target demographic just a teensy bit, but what the heck?

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but doesn't one wreak havoc?

By Miramon at 9:21 PM ON 03/30/09

Actually one cries havoc, and then lets the dogs out.

But wreaking is for sure better than wrecking or reeking. Tom is mocking a recent article in which some other lame game copy-writer used the other malapropism.

Ahh, gotcha, and thanks.

That Tom, always a step ahead of me.

Yeah, sorry if that wasn't clear. I meant that both "wrecking havoc" and "reeking havoc" were wrong, but "reeking havoc" was the worse of the two because it just makes no sense.
