X-Plane developer Austin Meyer isn't the least bit shy about capitalizing on the news that Microsoft closed down the studio responsible for its Flight Simulator series. This is what you'll find on the front page for the game.MICROSOFT CONVERSION SALE. We will leave the price down at $39 for a little while longer to let all the new Microsoft users come in at $39...get X-Plane cheap now!
You'd think Microsoft was going to come to people's houses and take away their copies of Flight Simulator X.
X-Plane is a garage-made flight sim that caters to the niche of hardcore simmers. From everything I've heard, it's definitely not for anyone without scads of flight simming experience and patience. The website, which reads like a bottle of Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap, doesn't inspire much confidence that the actual game is very polished. The only thing it's missing is is a built-in audio player blaring a low-quality mp3 of "Flight of the Valkyries".
