I hope I don't lose my hardcore gamer cred for saying this, but there is no game I'm more looking forward to this year than The Sims 3. Go ahead, call me a soccer mom, see if I care. But as the series has progressed, it's gotten better and better (except for those times it was nickel and diming you for extra furniture or snow or apartments, which was frequent enough that I lost interest in the series). What started out as an uneven but promising virtual life simulation (The Sims 1) turned into a shrewdly designed strategy game (The Sims 2), and is now being dropped into an open world. The Sims 3 looks like it will finally be the single player MMO The Sims should have been all along.
So I was pretty disappointed that Electronic Arts admitted the game won't be along this month, as expected. Instead, it's been pushed back until June 2nd.
Also delayed were Godfather II and Dragon Age, but I'm all, like, whatever. Because us Sims-loving soccer moms aren't into flimsy GTA clones or turgid fantasy RPGs.
