Fake Wrestle Jam from The Wrestler isn't so fake after all

Wrestle_Jam.jpgKotaku has posted an account of the Wrestle Jam game featured in a scene in Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, in which Mickey Rourke and a young actor named John D'Leo play a Nintendo. The fictional 8-bit game was created by the movie's graphics artist and a programmer from Netdevil, the company known for Jumpgate and currently working on Lego Universe.

"Darren [Aronofsky] is a little bit unconventional," [graphics artist Krystin] Hume said of the Wrestle Jam project, saying that the director wanted a fully functioning demo for Rourke and D'Leo to interact with. "It ended up being a working game. He wanted the actors to be able to play the game instead of them trying to act like they were playing."
