The press release release announcing Dawn of War II features an unfortunate word choice:Warhammer 40,000™: Dawn of War II Launches with Unmatched Multiplayer Action Exclusively on Games for Windows - LIVE.
For the record, this isn't true. Games for Windows Live does indeed match you with an opponent for multiplayer games.
I haven't been playing much lately. Before I go online again, I need to wait until the good players have played more. Then their TrueSkill (tm) ratings will be high enough that I stop getting matched against them. Because right now, going online for matched games of Dawn of War 2 is like volunteering myself to be pummeled with phone books and bars of soap wrapped in pillowcases.

during the beta there were often wild gaps between the average trueskill of each team in 3v3, so i'm not entirely convinced that the press release has erred...

maybe they meant to use 'unmatched' in the same sense that someone would use 'unparalleled'. They probably meant to say that the multiplayer action was unmatchable by any other game. I don't know the whole context though. I just saw some humor in how this could be interpreted.

I'm impressed with your knowledge of how to beat someone up in prison without giving them obvious bruises.

Yep, TOGAMAN09 is right on the nose with this one. That's exactly how they mean it. Tom knows that. He's just being snarky.
I don't think that there's a high risk that many people would take the same interpretation that Tom did, but it IS still poor word choice. Especially since "Matchmaking" has nearly become an industry standard for online multiplayer titles.

I lol'ed at the "unmatched" clause. GFWL never matches me with the same bracket in TS, always with TS 0's or TS 33's.

lol. That's all I have to say. lol. I love this site! Keep it coming, I'll understand your sarcasm some time in my life. Until then, I'll read every story you post, Tom.
