I have been savagely and repeatedly beaten by Firaxis' strategy game, Colonization. Sometimes even in public. At first, I thought it was my fault. I blamed myself. It affected my self-esteem as a conqueror of the New World. But part of coming to love Colonization is accepting that it shares some of the blame for its own unreasonable beatings.

So I'm happy to tell you that the game is working on its issues. Firaxis marketing associate Pete Murray stood before the Civfanatics fan forum and admitted that Colonization has a problem:

We wanted to let you know that we're currently working on a patch that will be ready for release soon. We've made many updates to the game based on feedback we've received from the community.

Murray's post details a list of changes Colonization promises to make. Most prominent among them is nerfing the king, which will hopefully make declarations of independence something other than guaranteed Old World beatdowns. Also, the game will support the "pitboss" multiplayer functionality, which lets people play by logging into a persistent server to take their turns.

Will Firaxis next admit that it has a problem with Civilization: Revolution, a great game that suffers from terminal stupidity?
