I'm not a huge fan of Braid in that I don't really care for it. But I am a huge fan in that I recognize it's a brilliant piece of work.
If you haven't played Braid, you're probably scratching your head and wondering what the heck I'm talking about. So you should probably find out for yourself. This wasn't possible if you didn't have an Xbox 360. But publisher Stardock has just announced that the PC version will be available at the end of next month from Impulse, its online distribution service. The price will be $20.
Braid is a deeply cerebral and sometimes frustrating exercise. It's pretentious and demanding. It's got writing. Actual writing. And not just words, but skillful and effective use of those words. It's worth getting to the end, because you're not going to appreciate what you've seen until that point. Call it "delayed gratification". So given all this, if I were the kind of guy to make generalizations, I'd be inclined to say Braid is an entirely appropriate fit for PC gaming.
