Deisel, Henrickson, and Forbes featured in upcoming Riddick game

Riddick_voice_talent.jpgAtari announced that in addition to Vin Deisel reprising the titular role, the upcoming Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena will feature voiceovers by geek favorites Lance "I was totally in Aliens , Pumpkinhead, and MIllennium" Henriksen and Michelle "Captain of the Pegasus" Forbes.

Chronicles of Riddick is finally living up to the first word in the title. What began as a one-off character for a one-trick pony horror movie (Pitch Black) has gone on to be the featured character in a prequel and two games. It was touch and go for a while there, but the term "chronicles" is finally legit.

The game will be released in March. Atari rescued it from the catalog of games abandoned in the merger between Vivendi and Activision. The developer, Starbreeze, previously did The Darkness for 2K.

And a sequel. An awful sequel, but a sequel.

Lance "Shot in the stomach by Jean-Claude Van Damme at the end of Hard Target" Henriksen? Sweet!

Slight correction. Sega did not publish - nor did the company have anything to do with - The Darkness. That was 2K games.

That being said, keep up the awesome work, Tom.

Oops, my bad, Con. Fixed. Thanks for the correction.

Tom,

You missed the most important comment - not about facts about the game you're actually talking about. But, as Benjamin points out .... Ensign Ro!

By Tom Chick at 7:11 PM ON 01/26/09

I fear you guys are totally out-geeking me, since I'm not sure who Ensign Ro is. I do know Lance Henriksen shot Al Pacino's buddy in the stomach in Dog Day Afternoon, palled around the Paul Winfield in The Terminator, and was on hand to witness the aliens landing in Close Encounters. But I must be too hip to get the Ensign Ro reference, which sounds like a Star Trek thing. Was it from Wrath of Con?

Hey, I just found my favorite Henriksen moment on youtube -- jump to 3:19 or so in this clip:

Keep in mind he gets up and walks away afterwards.

I primarily associate Lance Henriksen with the short-lived, not especially good series Millenium from the X-Files guy (might have been a spinoff, I forget). He was actually lead in that one.

I guess I'm the only one that watches "In Treatment"

Sorry Tom.

Re: Ensign Ro: You wrote "Michelle "Captain of the Pegasus" Forbes" ... It should be "Michelle "Ensign Ro!! (and yeah, some role on BSG too)!" Forbes.

Yeah. Star Trek. But not Wrath of Khan. Next Generation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ro_Laren
