Okay, I was totally down with Square Enix taking Space Invaders and turning it into a pumped up techo thriller for the PSP and Nintendo DS. But I don't know about Space Invaders Get Even, this new take for Nintendo's downloadable WiiWare catalog. With it's 3D background and all that ground clutter, it looks like a 1942 clone. The twist is that you play a space invader, flying around blowing up stuff. Which isn't like any space invader I've ever seen. Space invaders are supposed to march down in slow rows of impending doom. Having them flit about like Galaga bugs is, I dunno, like having zombies that can run.
But the deal killer for me is the way the game is diced up into separate packs. If you pay the 500 Wii points (five bucks) to download the basic game, you're only getting two levels and a boss battle. Where I come from, we call that "a demo". Three additional packs (i.e. "the rest of the game") are available for another five bucks each.
I think I'll just stick with Space Invaders Extreme on my PSP, which costs twenty bucks all at once.

So, Space Invaders and 1942 had a baby? And you're COMPLAINING about that?!
Also, $5 4 times is the same as $20 once. It's admittedly ridiculous to parse it out like that, but this is a brave new world where horses cost $5 and video games come packaged with free chicken bits.
