If you've only got a Nintendo Wii or a Playstation 2, this is Rock Band 2 week. But for everyone else, there's only one notable release: Rise of the Argonauts, a promising action RPG from a talented developer. Unfortunately, the timing doesn't bode well. The only game publisher Codemasters has on the shelves this holiday shopping season is a card-trading game for the Nintendo DS about magical horses (seriously). There's GRID from this past summer, which is excellent but probably eclipsed by EA's latest (and wretched) Need for Speed: Undercover and Rockstar's sexy (and superlative) Midnight Club Los Angeles. So I can imagine the guys at Codemasters doing everything they can to get a "core" game released in time to maybe capture a few Christmas dollars. I just hope the developers of Rise of the Argonauts were ready for the last-minute release date change.
