IGN, the site that notes squids aren't animals, announced the following data point from its "Are You Game?" survey of 2000 gamers:Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, is also king when it comes to videogame sales.
To prove it, they've linked to a chart showing that 62% of respondents bought games at Wal-Mart, compared to 54% who bought games at Best Buy or Gamestop. Only 17% of the people surveyed bought games from Blockbuster, where they're dirty and used.
In other news, Wal-Mart does a lot more business than the other stores, so I'm going to file this under "no duh".

FWIW, Blockbuster carries new games now... I just bought Fable 2 and Midnight Club from there.

Now that video games are documented to do a high volume of business at Wal-Mart, do you think as video game players we could all unite and ask Wal-Mart to stop making their most disgruntled employee the store greeter?

and yet most of their games are the crappy ones. look at the wii and ds section, and it not so much that they have the general player games. it the fact that they pretty much only have the general audience. but then someones going to sell hanna montana. might as well be them.

I think we can all agree that Chibi Robo: Park Patrol is behind Wal-Mart's success.

Do they offer any clearance deals along the lines of Target's irregular amazements? If not, I can't comprehend why anyone who knows anything about videogames would shop for games there. (of course, perhaps no one of that sort does.) It's certainly the only reason I ever buy games at Target. If they're not on clearance they're all but guaranteed to be at the highest retail price of any vendor in town. And the selection stinks.
