The sci-fi MMO Tabula Rasa is on its way to being literally rasa'ed (the Latin phrase is usually translated "blank slate", but "rasa" has the connotation of something actively erased). Neither sex nor being shot into space were enough to save this game developed in the name of Ultima creator Richard Garriott. The development team at NCsoft doled out the news with a bad news/good news one/two punch....the game hasn't performed as expected. The development team has worked hard to improve the game since launch, but the game never achieved the player population we hoped for.
So it is with regret that we must announce that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009.
Before we end the service, we'll make Tabula Rasa servers free to play starting on January 10, 2009. NCsoft sweetened the "good news" part of the announcement by giving current Tabula Rasa players the following gift package: * 3 free months of City of Heroes including digital client
* 3 free months of Lineage II including digital client
* Aion beta access (coming soon)
* Aion pre-order access (available in 2009)
* 1 free month of Aion including digital client (available in 2009)

While I haven't played the game, I'm always sad to see someone's hard work not pay off. Ultima Online was my first MMO and because of many of its features it is still my favorite after all of these years. I was hoping Garriott's next game (which became Tabula Rasa) was going to be in the same vein as UO but it was so different that I didn't give it a second look. I sincerely hope this isn't the last game he and his team tries to develop and that they have learned what to improve the next time around.

I've been an active player of this game since shortly after betas. It's had it's ups and downs but has grown into a game to be proud of. I personally think the plug is being pulled to soon, but with free to play starting Jan 10th, perhaps enough interest can be generated to save it!! Unrealistic maybe, but a gal can hope!

I agree with Seafort. I've been in the game since Beta. Had a rocky start, but I still loved it then. the GM's have always been great and I love what it has grown in to. Shame to see it go due to lack of advertising. It can't be because of the game... It's great!!!!`

ITS NCSOFT what can you expect, they have never told the truth on their games, first they say its doing awesome then its not. LIneage 2 is a epic failure but they still claim the most in history playing it. armored assault, TR , L2 all failures
