The rest of the 2008 should be mostly safe for your wallet. It will face only minimal threats from stuff like Sonic Unleashed, in which the eponymous hedgehog is himself by day and a werehog by night (that is a 100% true description of the game) and Disney's Ultimate Band, which is like Rock Band but without the fake instrutments (which is to say it's nothing like Rock Band).
If you're shopping for a Nintendo DS, your wallet should be on the alert for possibly intriguing conversions like Chrono Trigger (which comes up in any conversation about Japanese RPGs), Syberia (which comes up in any conversation about how adventure games are dead), and a turn-based Age of Mythology (which never comes up because THQ hasn't done any marketing for this one).

I am seriously more excited for the turn-based Age of Mythology game than I've been for anything else this whole crazy season. I think mostly because they didn't market it and so I had no idea it was happening at all until a few days back. I already felt like I knew what I was getting with Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Left 4 Dead, etc. (Although as it turns out Left 4 Dead was rather less than I was expecting.)
