You get what you pay for with 20 free downloadable songs for Rock Band 2

rock_band_2_huh.jpgJust as I suspected, Harmonix will release a bunch of blue dot riff-raff as the twenty free downloadable songs for Rock Band 2 (IGN announced the list here). I'm not a terribly hip guy, but I can usually spot one or two bands I recognize in a typical list of music game songs. But I don't know a single one of these guys from Adam.

  • The 88 - "Sons and Daughters"
  • Authority Zero - "No Regrets"
  • Between the Buried and Me - "Prequel To The Sequel"
  • The Cab - "Bounce"
  • The Chevelles - "Get It On"
  • The Cocktail Slippers - "Give It To Me"
  • Dealership - "Database Corrupted"
  • Endeverafter - "I Wanna Be Your Man"
  • The Ghost Hounds - "Ashes To Fire"
  • Hollywood Undead - "Young"
  • Kutless - "The Feeling"
  • The Len Price 3 - "If I Ain't Got You"
  • Lesley Roy - "I'm Gone, I'm Going"
  • Opiate for the Masses - "Burn You Down"
  • Semi-Precious Weapons - "Magnetic Baby"
  • Shaimus - "Like a Fool"
  • Thenewno2" - Crazy Tuesday"
  • Tickle Me Pink - "The Time Is Wrong"
  • Underoath - "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures"

They'll be available on November 4th. I await them with unabated breath.

Actually, my breath (a)bates for one of the names on that list. SHAIMUS performed "All of This," my favorite bonus track in the original Guitar Hero.

Kutless is actually an extremely popular Christian rock band. Nice to see them in the game!

Underoath and Hollywood Undead are both very well known, Underoath being a Christian band, and Hollywood Undead being Myspace Famous

Underoath isn't just christian rock, they're christian screamo rock! The beats that Aaron Gillespie lays down on the drums are simply amazing and the guitar riffs throughout the song's ever changing rhythms make every song they'll have incredibly fun to play. No matter what instrument you're playing (yes, I'm including your voice too!) you'll never get bored with Underoath! Totally not unknown!

Um...okay. WTF is up with these Christian bands and this game? I'm not offended or anything, I'm just wondering what is up with this.

And also, I need to know definitively if "Green Grass and High Tides" is a Christian song or not. Not for nothing, but I need someone to blame for that song. And if that 'someone' needs a capital 'S'...so be it.

Oh, and for anybody feeling suddenly protective, there's apparently a TWENTY MINUTE VERSION of this song that the band uses as a show closer. I will unleash that on your ass if you don't help me out here.

Just a thought Dingus, but maybe they are trying to prevent any of their targeted consumers that have strict religious beliefs going to the Christian version of Guitar Hero that I heard mentioned awhile ago (on this site I believe). Although I don't think many would switch over in the first place.
