The problem with exclusive retail pre-order bonuses and exclusive collector's edition goodies is that they're exclusive. For instance, you're not going to get the Wreckager cutlass from the Hall of the Dead in Fable 2 unless you buy the Limited Collector's Edition, rip the tab off the included card, type into Xbox Live the 25-digit code, and then download the extra content.
But sometimes exclusive deals are actually exclusive. You can't see me, but I'm using my fingers to put air quotes around the word "exclusive". For instance, Gamestop offered three exclusive (air quotes) bonus vehicles to customers who pre-ordered Saints Row 2. They then provided codes the customers could enter into the game's cell phone. Said customers immediately posted the codes to the Internet, where you and me can now use them.
Dial #4976 to get a little two-seater helicopter called a Gyro Daddy. Dial #728237 for the D-Stroyer, a misnamed UFO that can't actually d-stroy anything since it's unarmed. For maximum ridiculousness, dial #7266837 for the Peewee minibike, which is easily the least dignified vehicle I've ever seen in a game. Alternatively, you could instead just watch this YouTube video of all three vehicles in action.
(Thanks Marcin!)
