I don't keep up with the Spyro the Dragon games, even though I probably should. If there's one thing worse than cute, it's cute and purple But there must be a reason they sell enough copies that they've been going so long. I mean, anything that popular is probably good, right?
So it caught my eye when I saw in the press release that Gary Oldman is the voice of one of the dragons in Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, which just came out. Yeah, that Gary Oldman. Hey, that's big-ish news, isn't it? But get this: he's been doing it ever since 2006, for the last three Spyro games. Who knew? I would almost -- almost! -- play a Spyro game just to hear Gary Oldman chewing the virtual scenery.
On a related note, Elijah Wood has been the voice of Spyro in the last three games as well, which isn't nearly as big of a draw.

The Legend Of Spyro trilogy was pretty bad, it killed the original spyro franchise, which was already dissolving into a million unplayable spin offs after the original 3 Insomniac PS1 games. Now I'll be honest and say I've played the Legend Of Spyro trilogy all the way through, and I do think the reviews ARE a little bit rough on it..But the games are very sloppy. Unrefined controls along with a storyline that seems like The Lord Of the Rings had mutant babies with Superman and Dragonball, So not my cup of tea. Remember kids, just cause it has our former hobbit playing a midget purple dragon who can go GodMod anytime he wants too doesn't make the game a revolution in fantasy gaming.
