September 29, 2008: Wallet threat level green

SH_home_bath.jpgThis was supposed to be a pretty exciting week for new games, with the release of Rise of the Argonauts, a promising RPG set in Ancient Greece; Sacred 2, the sequel to the cult hit German action RPG; and Project: Origin, Monolith's sequel to FEAR. All three have been delayed.

That leaves Silent Hill: Homecoming. After playing ten minutes, I spent another ten minutes in the same four rooms, running along the walls slapping the space bar (figuratively, of course, since I'm playing on the 360). I have no idea what I've missed, but let's just say the obstacle to my progress is a surly kid who wants a stuffed bunny. Wonderful. Time to utterly stuck: less than ten minutes. If you're looking for Silent Hill to get a new schtick, don't look to Homecoming.

Also, there's no way to play with inverted camera controls. Nice going, Konami.

The other notable release this week is a new Harvest Moon for the Wii, Tree of Tranquility. This has been out in Japan for a year, and it doesn't seem any different from the last Harvest Moon for the Wii, Magical Melody. Plus, I have a hard time imagining any Harvest Moon game satisfying a Harvest Moon jones better than Viva Pinata.
