Microsoft cuts Xbox 360 prices
Wait, hold on! Don't buy an Xbox 360 today! Phew, that was close. Did I get you in time? I just wanted to make sure you knew the Xbox 360 gets $50 cheaper tomorrow.
The one with the big hard drive (which is black and also comes with its own HDMI cable) is now $400, the one with the small hard drive is $300, and the one with no hard drive (aka the "retard pack", because you're just going to have to buy an overpriced hard drive anyway, you retard) is $200. Actually, the retard pack was $280, so it got a price cut by $80. But it's still not enough to buy a hard drive, so don't think you're going to get a functional Xbox 360 for less than $300.
You're on the right track, Microsoft! Now how about lifting that silly monthly fee for Xbox Live?

Thanks for this. I was under the impression that they were only dropping the price in Japan. Good news.
There's one with a medium hard drive (60GB) and one with a small hard drive (20GB). The [killer] Elite one has a 120GB hard drive. I'd thought I was going to get away with getting the medium (which was $350), but now I'm not so sure.
Anyway, good news.
Also, my friend who works for Best Buy told me the Xbox is getting a Blu-Ray player, probably by Christmas. You probably already knew that, but it was news to me.

Awesome. So, three years after launch, they're finally at a reasonable launch price.
(Of course, I already bought my (small drive) 360 used several months ago for ~250ish all told.)

By the phrase "retard pack", do you mean that only people suffering from Mental Retardation would want this pack?
If you mean "retard pack" as in "wouldn't-be-a-good-idea-to-buy-it pack", then there are a number of other words you could use that aren't so derogatory or derisive.

Guam, you'd have to check with the people who coined the term "retard pack". But I imagine they just mean the pack is "retarded" as in "impeded" or "held back". I'm sure it's in no way a reference to the mental capacity of the retards who choose to buy it.

Some are arguing that the Elite is now the differently abled pack because you can get the same specs for $50 cheaper by buying the Arcade and the marked down 120GB drive. I don't think you get the Microsoft HDMI cable, though.
