First look at DC Universe Online's virtual cosplay
At the beginning of the year, there were two competing superhero MMOs on their way. Sony was developing DC Universe Online at their Austin MMO studio, and City of Heroes developer Cryptic Studios was making Marvel Universe Online. Talk about splitting your fan base. These two games would have eaten other other alive. However, Cryptic blinked first. They canceled Marvel Universe Online and immediately announced Champions Online. On other words, development continued without the Marvel licensing. Sorry Hulk, X-Men, Spiderman, et al. These games are still going to be fierce cometitors, but now DC Universe Online continues unopposed as the only officially licensed comics MMO.
A few new screenshots were just released. I think comics fans will recognize some of these guys, but I mostly see a bunch of buff dudes in silly costumes, including Nightcrawler dressed as Superman. Where's Batman?

But wouldn't this also compete with city of heroes?
Urgh I'm just sick of all these new MMO announcements when loads of them are just going to be older MMOs in a new skin, half of them seem to get cancelled before they're even published.

That is not Nightcrawler. He is a Marvel character. That is Bizzaro. He is a reverse replica of Superman.

This looks like a bad CoX clone. never knew Cryptic was making the failed Marvel MMO, sounds strange to me, like Coke making Pepsi. Anyway,looks bad, sounds lame.

omg, if cryptic had finished the marvel mmo DC would have been blown out of the water. just my oppinion that dc seems as cool as a snobby police officer, they all live up on space stations, placing them on a higher plain than everyone else, but it seems marvel superheroes are all flawed, mutants being descriminated, heroes being arrested, and even went as far as a civil war between mutants. all in all who wants to play alongside superman anyways ill take the incredible hulk anyday
