Xbox 360 Live gets political

ivotedsticker.gifThe folks at Rock the Vote have teamed up with Microsoft not only for a presence on Xbox Live, but also to enable online voter registration over Xbox Live. How cool is that, right?

Actually, when you think about, this is great PR, but not very practical. It takes more effort to enter the necessary text using the 360s terrible D-pad than it does to open a web broswer and register online. I figure anyone who can't be bothered to register using his computer and keyboard isn't going to stop playing Halo long enough to do it over Xbox Live. Still, it makes for a good announcement and it makes me think the Xbox 360 loves America more than the Sony Playstation 3. Sony, what have you done for this country lately? I mean besides curing cancer with that Folding@Home thing.

You're forgetting about two alternatives: 1) the chatpad accessory for the 360, and 2) plugging a USB keyboard into the 360 (which, as I can personally attest, is a lifesaver when entering those 25 character codes on points cards). Not sure how many people actually have the chatpad, though...
