Red Alert 3 dramatis personae, featuring stars from Big Lebowski, Brazil, and Scream 3

RA3_cast_01.jpgIt wouldn't be a Command & Conquer game without lavishly filmed live action cut scenes featuring recognizable actors speaking terrible dialogue and looking slightly lost. Electronic Arts promises not to disappoint in Red Alert 3. They've announced the rest of the game's cast, which features a couple of nice surprises.

Among the usual suspects, Tim Curry will appear in his 812th videogame as the Russian leader. George Takei will play his Japanese counterpart. In the photo above, you can see Jenny McCarthy as the Allied commando. I hope her eyeliner gets separate billing. Kelly Hu will play the Japanese commando, while "Elite XC Fighter" (I have no idea what that is, but it sounds imposing) Gina Carano will play the Soviet commando.

Among the surprises is Peter Stormare, who actually isn't that big a surprise considering how badly he's been slumming it in no-budget B-movies these days. Based on the middle screenshot below, he's either playing Jerry Lewis or Albert Einstein (Andrew Divoff to his right is better known as "Patchy" from Lost). Another pleasant surprise is cigar- and scenery-chewing actor J.K. Simmons. You probably know him as J. Jonah Jameson from the Spiderman movies, but his roles have ranged from the understanding dad in Juno to the vicious sodomizing neoNazi in Oz. Hopefully he'll bring elements of both roles to his portrayal of the American President.

The really big surprise to me is Jonathan Pryce. Now there's an actor. I am equally sad and delighted that he'll be appearing in an Electronic Arts real time strategy game. But I guess it's not that far a fall from Pirates of the Caribbean.
