The Force Unleashed demo is available now from the Playstation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace, allowing you to get a taste of Lucasarts upcoming Dark Side Force sim, due out September 16th. If you've seen footage of the game, you might have a sense for how this plays. But it's still a little surprising to be in the usually neat and antiseptic Star Wars world, wreaking so much havoc. Well, Euphoria, really. Havoc was the name of the old physics engine. Euphoria is the new hotness, making it's second appearance after its debut in Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City.
I'm not sure how the full game will progress, but in the demo, you're an incredibly powerful dude from the get-go, violently flinging things, slashing people, stabbing them, smashing R2 units into Gonk droids, and generally breaking stuff left and right. The picture above, which looks like something an angry teen would hang in his room, says it all. There's an uncharacteristic mean streak here, as if the game's initials were intentional. You could say you're a veritable god of war. With this kind of power in your hands, even the devil may cry!
But then an AT-ST comes along and ruins all the fun. If you manage to get past that thing, let me know how you did it. The stupid thing has already killed me a half dozen times. Where's an Ewok when you need him? At this rate, I'm not looking forward to my first Rancor.

Arrived here looking for a solution but finally I did it by myself.
Just pressing Y / triangle a few times against the AT-ST and while the Force is reloading you can attack the soldiers (although you have no force you can still use LB / L1 to move faster)

You need to approach the AT-ST to initiate a cheap-ass QTE minigame - I did it after tossing a few hunks of debris at it from a distance, so maybe you need to weaken it a little first. A couple timed button presses trigger an animation where you slice the whole thing in half and a stormtrooper falls out.

Actually I think Havok is still the physics engine in this one, Euphoria is the animation AI that's supposed to make characters move in a more realistic and varied manner, like the Stormtroopers grabbing onto each other and the environment when being force lifted/thrown.

Havok is the the basic physics system in use. Euphoria is a a behavioral AI system. It is the reason Stormtroopers grab onto stuff when you force grab them. It gives the AI a survival instinct. The more advanced physics system for materials in the game (why wood acts like wood, metal bends like metal, and glass shatters like glass) is called Digital Molecular Matter (DMM). Explained on it's wikipedia page:

To defeat the Walker you have to run up to it...jump and slash at it with the saber until it enters the choreographed sequence where you have the mash the buttons in the proper sequence to trigger the final blow. I agree with JeffK...it does feel really cheap compared to the rest of the demo.

Working now, without a screen name and registration.
