Enjoy this week, because we're headed into weeks on end of bright, red, pulsing wallet threat levels. I'm talking throbbing red, like a headache or hemorrhoids commercial. And probably with a klaxon sound effect like on Star Trek when someone shoots a photon torpedo or something at you.
The largest threat to your wallet this week is an Xbox Live Marketplace game called Castle Crashers (pictured above), a 2D combat platformer from the creators of Alien Hominid. It looks like it'll be cute, mindless, and awesome, plus you can play it with your friends in the same room. Also on the 2D platformer front are ports of N+ for the DS and PSP.
There's a Sims 2 expansion called Apartment Life, in which you can listen to your neighbor's television. However, you've long since stopped paying EA for their shameless Sims 2 milking, haven't you? Haven't you? Speaking of milking, be on the lookout for a new Harvest Moon for the Nintendo DS, subtitled Island of Happiness. Disgaea 3 will be along for the Playstation 3, which seems like a bit of overkill considering how old-school the graphics are in these spreadsheet SRPGs. I love the Disgaeas, but my 200 hours of SRPG for this year are already in the process of being eaten up by Final Fantasy Advance Tactics 2: Grimoire of the Rift. And finally, there's Tales of Vesperia, which is a new Castlevania game. Actually, I'm just kidding. Everyone knows Tales of Vesperia is a Final Fantasy game.
