

The Balance Board™ tells me I've lost 22 pounds since yesterday. Also, my Wii Fit Age™ has plunged to 37. At this rate, I'll be a zygote within two weeks. Then, at the beginning of our yoga session, Creepy Telepathic Ghost Trainer Chick tells me she thinks she stayed up a little too late last night. What was she doing? Is she turning on my Wii when I'm asleep? Is there something going on between her and one of the Miis in there?
One of the helpful commenters in an earlier game diary entry suggested that these sudden weight fluctuations might have something to do with using the Balance Board™ on a carpet. I look through the manual to see if there's anything about this, but I stop short at the following "fitness tip", accompanied by a picture of a dude standing on the Balance Board™ holding a Nintendog™:
After you've weighed yourself, why not try it again while holding something? By observing how much the weight differs, you can find out how much whatever you're holding weighs. This feature only works when the object you're holding weighs 7 lbs. or more. Any weight difference under 7 lbs. will be treated as a natural fluctuation in the user's weight.Okay, first of all, this is bad news for anyone with a light dog. But more to the point, anything under 7 lbs is a "natural fluctuation"? How am I supposed to get credit in the event that I lose the 5 lbs I'm trying to lose? Or even if I overshoot my goal and lose 6 lbs? Wii Fit makes me feel like I've been living a lie. I do my strength training, yoga, and cardio, but with a renewed since of disappointment.
